Our Founder on the USD Women in Business Panel: 3 Lessons for Entrepreneurs
We’re proud to share that our founder, Ryen Toft, was recently invited to speak on the Women in Business Panel at the *University of San Diego-*an inspiring event hosted by the USD School of Business and attended by students, alumni, and fellow entrepreneurs.
As the founder of Simply Luxe, a luxury organizing and design firm rooted in intentional living, Ryen shared her journey from solo organizer to scaling a business that’s helped thousands of clients reset, declutter, and live beautifully organized lives.
1. Growth Doesn’t Always Mean More-Sometimes It Means Better
During the panel, Ryen spoke about her decision to grow Simply Luxe not by chasing endless expansion, but by refining systems, investing in training, and building a brand that’s synonymous with luxury, efficiency, and calm.
“It’s tempting to equate success with being bigger-but for me, it’s about being better. Better systems, better culture, better results for clients.”
This lesson resonated with students who asked how to scale their ideas without losing their vision or burning out.
2. Say Yes Before You’re Ready-Then Figure It Out
When asked how she built Simply Luxe into a multi-seven-figure business with a stellar reputation, Ryen reflected on early moments of saying yes before feeling 100% prepared-and using those leaps as motivation to rise to the occasion.
“You’ll never feel 100% ready. Say yes, then commit to showing up fully and doing the work to make it happen.”
From last-minute celebrity clients to high-stakes speaking gigs, Ryen shared how embracing discomfort built her confidence and credibility.
3. Your Values Are Your Brand
Throughout the event, Ryen emphasized the importance of running a values-driven business. For Simply Luxe, that means clear communication, sustainability, beauty, and integrity-every single day.
“Clients may come to you for a service, but what keeps them loyal is how you make them feel. Leading with your values builds trust that lasts.”
A Moment of Gratitude
Thank you to the USD School of Business and the amazing student organizers for hosting such an empowering event. It’s an honor to speak alongside other inspiring female entrepreneurs and share what we’ve learned building a heart-led, high-performing company right here in San Diego.
