Garage Shelving Organization in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles

In Woodland Hills, the garage often does double duty. For this young Los Angeles family, it needed to be both a storage room and a home gym. After the arrival of their first little one, their household systems had understandably slipped, and the garage was where it showed the most. They wanted clear, easy systems that both partners could follow, and they asked us to start with the garage.

The challenge

The garage held lots of random boxes and mixed categories: strollers, a wagon, toys, baby gear and bins of every size, plus household items that had been stashed there temporarily and really belonged inside. Getting to the shelves meant moving everything in front of them first, and there was not enough clear floor to use the gym equipment.

Planning around real life

Before the session, the family filled out our garage intake form and design boards. They told us the space should work as half storage and half gym, that outgrown baby clothes, old toys and baby gear could be stored up higher, and that holiday decor needed to stay accessible once a year. They chose a clean clear and white look with matching bins, and they had already bought a set of QR code labels they hoped we could use.

What our team did

Over two days in spring 2026, a team of three organizers sorted the entire garage into clear zones for storage and the workout area. We built two new storage racks, set up matching clear bins with labels, and added the QR code labels so the family can scan a bin and see what is inside. Items that belonged in the house were returned inside, and on the final day our junk removal partner picked up all of the donations, junk and old paint.

Lesser used items like outgrown baby gear sit on the higher shelves, while things the family reaches for more often stay at arm level. Most importantly, the floor in the gym zone is clear and ready for a workout.

The result

The family can now find what they need in seconds, and because every bin is labeled, everyone in the house knows where things go back. It is a simple system built to last as the kids grow. During the same visit, our team also organized the kitchen, pantry and a little one’s closet.

Keeping it beautiful

Our favorite tip for families with little ones: keep one open bin on a low shelf for the toys and balls that get used every day. It gives kids an easy place to toss things back, which keeps the rest of the system looking tidy without any extra effort from you.
