Giving Back
Philanthropy has always been part of how Ryen Toft runs Simply Luxe. Simply Luxe donates up to 3% of profits each year to causes we love, supporting women, kids and pets. Our team is happiest when an organized home also means a little more good in the world, from rescue dogs finding families to kids who know someone is in their corner.
Dogs who need a home
The Barking Lot, Ramona
Walks, posts and happy tails
Ryen volunteers with The Barking Lot, walking the pups and helping with social media so more dogs get seen and rescued. The Barking Lot, working with Soi Dog, has helped save 1,300+ dogs, and we are proud supporters.
The Animal Pad
Donations, rescues and organizing
Simply Luxe has donated to The Animal Pad and rescued from them: Sugar, one of Ryen’s two mini retrievers, came home from Mexico through The Animal Pad. We have also organized for the rescue’s owner, a Simply Luxe client for years.
Flying rescue dogs home
Soi Dog Foundation rescues and cares for dogs and cats in Thailand, and many adopted animals can only reach their new families overseas with a traveler by their side. Ryen did an interview to promote Soi Dog’s Flight Buddy program, because it is one of the easiest ways to change a dog’s life: Soi Dog handles the paperwork, crates and check-in, and you simply fly. Honey, Ryen’s other mini retriever and the team’s favorite supervisor, was rescued from Phuket through Soi Dog and The Barking Lot, which work together.

Women’s foundations
Simply Luxe donates to and is part of foundations that support women’s health. We have given back with The Clearity Foundation, now part of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA). Clearity focuses on science-based education and support for women and families facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis, and OCRA funds ovarian and gynecologic cancer research and offers patient and family support programs.

Showing up for kids
Ryen was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for 10 years, and supporting kids has always been close to her heart. Most recently she attended the Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County gala in Point Loma to support their one-to-one youth mentoring.

Humble Design + Monarch School
These two go hand in hand. Humble Design San Diego supports neighbors who have recently secured housing after experiencing homelessness, turning donated furniture and household goods into homes, and Monarch School partners with unhoused students and their families in San Diego. Ryen has read to the Monarch kids and donated a copy of her book Bee A Dreamer to every child at the school.

Storytime with Reading Legacies
Ryen read her children’s book Bee A Dreamer for Reading Legacies Storytime, a San Diego nonprofit that builds family connection through shared reading, and she loves reading it aloud at local schools: Garden Road Elementary in Poway, an elementary school in Rancho Santa Fe, a school in Orange County, and Ramona Elementary, close to home for this Ramona High graduate. At Ramona Elementary, every student she read to went home with their own signed copy.

“Ramona High grad reads her new book to students”
Ramona Sentinel, March 28, 2019, by Julie Gallant. The paper covered Ryen’s March 22 reading for first- and second-graders at Ramona Elementary, where each student received a free autographed copy of Bee A Dreamer. A portion of the book’s royalties goes to the Planet Bee Foundation.

For the bees
A portion of every Bee A Dreamer sale goes to the book’s nonprofit partner, the Planet Bee Foundation, which teaches kids to become environmental stewards.

Donations, done for you
When clients edit their homes, we help them decide what to keep, donate or let go. Donation runs are available for an additional cost, so good things find a second home.
