Some closet days are extra fun, and organizing for Katie Maloney in Los Angeles was definitely one of them. Katie has a serious collection of hats, sneakers and bags (and a great sense of humor), so our goal was simple: a walk-in closet where everything is easy to see, easy to grab and easy to put away.

The Before: A Closet Ready for a Reset
When we did our walkthrough, the closet had great bones but too many categories living together. Tops, jackets and loungewear were mixed on the rods, shelves were crowded, and the favorites were hiding behind everything else. No judgment here, ever. This is exactly what happens when you are busy living your life.

How We Organized This Celebrity Closet
We kept it to our tried and true process: clean slate, sorting, categorizing, then creating zones.
- Hanging by type: tops, jackets and loungewear each got their own section, with matching hangers all facing the same way.
- Hats on display: the hat collection went front and center on the top shelves, so every look starts with the right cap.
- Shoes at eye level: sneakers lined up in rows by style, so pairs never get separated.
- Bags up top: handbags stand in clear acrylic dividers, protected and easy to see.
- Back stock in bins: lidded white bins on the highest shelves hold seasonal and extra items.

Closet Day Is Always a Team Day
Our team had the best time on this one. And yes, we absolutely took a photo with Katie’s life-size Quickies cutout. Obviously.

Steal These Walk-In Closet Tips
- Hang by category first, then by color. You will see what you own in seconds.
- Use matching hangers. It instantly makes a closet feel calmer and saves space.
- Display what you love. If you wear it often, it deserves eye level.
- Keep bags upright with dividers so they hold their shape.
